Dear St. Albert the Great Alumni,

            WELCOME!!  This is the first of what we hope will be a regular newsletter regarding St. Albert’s newly formed Alumni Association.  The purpose of forming this association is primarily two-fold:  First, we hope to utilize our vast pool of former students as a valuable resource to aid St. Albert’s Parish with their talents, experiences, and financial support.  This is the mission statement of most Alumni Associations and with nearly 40 former graduating classes, our parish could certainly benefit from the support of their Alums.  Second, it provides a vehicle to allow our Alums to “reconnect” to their former parish school.  Many former classes have approached the school about organizing reunions (some successful – some not), so we know there is an interest to rekindle the past with many of you.

            Our task is to try and move this Association forward.  The biggest hurdle to date is locating our Alums and adding their contact information to our files.  Last fall we organized an “Open House” for ALL Alums after a Saturday evening Mass.  While it proved to be a great night for all who visited, it only generated a modest turnout.  We have a bolder plan for this fall, but need to tremendously expand our Alumni mailing list if our proposal has any chance to succeed.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!

            If you received this inaugural newsletter, than we have you in our Alumni e-mail file.  We plan to communicate, at first, electronically until we have a larger, more defined address file on our Alums.  We need everyone who receives this newsletter TO FORWARD IT to as many former St. Albert’s grads as possible – family, neighbors, friends, co-workers…use your contacts and your imagination, but circulate this newsletter.  Those who receive it are also requested to forward it as well.  If everyone who reads this message is able to forward to only ONE OTHER PERSON, we will attain our goal in a short amount of time.  We will provide a link so that all our Alums can respond with their current info (address, phone, e-mail…).  Our goal is to expand our mailing list four or five times what we already have on file.  Rest assured that any info you share with us will only be used for Alumni Association Activities.  We feel our goal is attainable, but recognize we will need everyone’s help to achieve it.  Three easy steps:

            Our plan for this fall is to try and organize an “ALL CLASS REUNION” to be held in the parish auditorium.  The tentative date for this Beef and Beer style reunion would be November 8, 2008, so keep that date available.  In order to get this Association, as well as this proposed reunion off the ground, we will need the cooperation and support of any Alum who reads this greeting.  Together we can make these proposed plans…REALITIES.  We are looking to establish an active, vibrant St. Albert the Great Alumni Association.              Please e-mail the information on the following page to alumni@stalbertthegreat.org to keep our alumni records up-to-date!  Be a part of it!!!
