Aid for Friends
-
Prepare an
individual meal tray from your dinner table and bring it to
the freezer provided in the kitchen of the parish cafeteria.
Meals are taken by visitors to the isolated elderly. Trays,
plastic bags, and menu forms are available next to the
freezer. Visitors are always needed and welcomed to
distribute meals.
Allegheny Valley School
(Ministry to
Persons with Disabling Conditions) Lay members with staff
personnel visit the Allegheny Valley School on Verree Road,
a residential facility for adults. A prayer service is held
on the fourth Monday of the month, September through May, at
7:00 PM.
Care of the Church and Church Linens
Weekly
cleaning of the church is accomplished by groups of
volunteers, who are scheduled every two months to keep the
sanctuary, church, and chapel clean. The linens are cleaned
weekly by volunteers who are scheduled every week to pick-up
the soiled linens on Monday, and return them to the Parish
Center by Friday.
Casserole Program for St. John's Hospice
Prepare a
casserole once a month for the homeless of St. John's
Hospice. Recipes and trays are available at the church
entrances. Freezer for storage is in the auditorium.
Catholic Youth Organization
The
organization sponsors and coordinates sporting events
including intramural and travel teams for grade school
students. Sports include soccer, basketball, baseball,
swimming, and track. The CYO sponsors 7th and 8th grade
dances and basketball for high school students.
Charismatic Prayer Group
To foster a
personal relationship with Jesus, and to gather as a
community to give Him praise and honor while using the gifts
of the Holy Spirit. The group meets Wednesday evenings in
the Church Chapel.
Church Office Workers, Ushers and Collection Tellers
Parishioners
staff the Church office before and after Sunday Masses to
handle requests for Mass cards and general parish
information. Assigned one mass every four to six weeks. Men
and women of the parish who welcome fellow parishioners
before Mass, assist them during and after Mass, and take up
the collections. Assignment is the choice of the individual.
Adult parishioners who count and sort the Sunday
collections. Groups of volunteers are scheduled as a team
once every six weeks on Sundays from 9:00 AM to
approximately 1:00 PM.
Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD)
The religious education program for all of our children
attending public and other non-Catholic private schools.
Classes are held on Tuesdays from 4:15 to 5:15 PM for
students in grades 1 through 8.
The staff of the CCD program is a volunteer group of
adults who give of their time and talent and share the gift
of their faith with these students.

Family Counseling Service
Fifty-Five Plus Club
Provides
friendship, fellowship and support. Activities include
luncheons, day trips, casino and theatre engagements. Aside
from social activities, they visit the sick, make afghans
for various nursing homes, and contribute to charitable
organizations.
Finance Council
A group of
parishioners who lend assistance and guidance to the Pastor
and parish in financial matters such as school tuition,
capital campaigns, collections support, and various other
financial matters.
First Sunday Coffee
After the
8:00 and 10:00 AM Masses on the first Sunday of each month
during the school year (October through June), parishioners
are invited to socialize over refreshments in the
auditorium.
Golden Lotto
The Golden
Lotto is a yearly fund-raiser for the physical improvements
of the parish buildings.
Knights of Columbus
A Catholic
fraternal organization dedicated to providing service to
church, community, council, family, and youth. Men over 18
are encouraged to join in visiting the elderly, helping the
poor and disabled, and conducting social events for many
charitable causes. Meets first Wednesday of every month.
Lectors
Men and
women of the parish proclaim the scriptures during
liturgies. Lectors rotate on a scheduled basis. Training and
ongoing in service is provided.
Life Teen
Life Teen is
a new variation on an old theme - THE MASS. "Life Teen"
Masses are every second and fourth Sunday. While geared to
teens, the Mass is open to all! That evening, teens (grades
9 - 12) are invited and challenged to live and learn more
about their faith at Life Teen Nights.
Music Ministry/Choir
The Music
Ministry program at St. Albert's is based on the belief that
the liturgy is enhances through music. We invite and
encourage the assembly to worship with us, as we celebrate
with music.
Parents' Association
A social and
educational organization for parents with children in our
parish school.

Pre-Cana Team
Parish teams
assist engaged couples in an all-day preparation session,
held twice a year in the fall and spring.
Pre-Jordan Sessions
The
Pre-Jordan program, required for all expectant parents,
seeks to prepare parents for the baptism of their Child(ren).
The class is held the first Sunday of every month at 1:00 PM
in the Parish Center. It is necessary to pre-register for
this class. Our hope is that this serves to update parents
in their faith and meet with others who will journey with
you and your child, thus building up our parish and the
Church.
Pro-Life
This group
distributes cloth roses and "precious" feet pins in May and
October of each year. All donations are used to support
Pro-Life educational programs and Guiding Star Ministries.
We also organize post card campaigns to inform our
legislators of our position on Respect Life issues.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)
The way an
adult becomes a Catholic is through the rites of Christian
initiation, having journeyed with a sponsor and team members
over a period of time: inquiry, instruction, sharing faith
and life experiences, conversion. Participants meet weekly
on a regular basis. Parish members serve as team members on
the journey of faith.
Saturday Rosary
The rosary
is recited every Saturday after the 8:00 AM Mass.
St. Vincent DePaul Conference
Lay persons
organize themselves into small working groups known as
conferences in order to help those who are in distress, or
those without adequate food, shelter, or clothing. Through
the SVDP Conference, parish resources (personal and
material) are put at the service of those with a need.
Meetings are held in the Parish Center on the third Monday
of the month for core members.
Stewardship Committee
A group of
parishioners who try to encourage the practice of
stewardship into the life of the parish. This committee
identifies opportunities for members of the parish to share
their time, talent, and treasure. the stewardship group
attempts to establish an ongoing process to recruit,
recognize, and thank volunteers in all parish ministries.
